Open education is often discussed in terms of cost and access, but its greatest impact may be relational. This session explores how open educational practices can bridge the space between classrooms and families by fostering transparency, accessibility, and shared ownership of learning. Across K–12 settings, educators can use openly licensed resources, adaptable learning tools, and transparent communication practices to strengthen family partnerships and reduce barriers to engagement. Participants will explore practical, scalable strategies for making learning more inclusive and collaborative beyond the school day. Attendees of this session will be able to:- Articulate how open educational practices extend beyond affordability to support relational equity between classrooms and families.
