2026 Open Education Conference

Many open education resources (OER) publishing programs offer a full suite of services, including helping instructors create their own OER. However, not all higher education institutions have the resources or staffing to provide that level of support. This lightning talk will discuss how one public university attempts to provide some support to instructors, especially for accessibility, while seeking to ensure a sustainable level of help. This includes offering a publishing platform and then providing support to instructors interested in collating various existing OER into one place, as well as providing editing support to ensure OER meet legal accessibility requirements. The session will also detail how the institution’s library has experimented with several staffing models for this support as well as how it continues to refine its workflow to ensure that the work remains manageable.
