About me
Daniel Williamson is the CEO of OpenReview, a non-profit advancing openness in scientific communication, particularly peer review, through a flexible, cloud-based platform. OpenReview supports open peer review, open publishing, open access, open discussion, an open directory of scientists, open reviewer recommendations, an open API, and open-source code. It is used extensively by the artificial intelligence and machine learning research communities, with more than 1,300 active venues handling over 300,000 paper submissions annually and serving 3.3 million monthly active users.
Previously, Daniel spent 14 years as Managing Director of OpenStax, a leading non-profit educational technology company that provides free, openly licensed textbooks and learning resources, saving students more than $3.4 billion since 2012. A two-time Rice University graduate with backgrounds in opera performance and business, he is deeply committed to equity in education and serves as treasurer of the Open Education Association. Outside of work, he can be found spending time with his husband, Scott, and their dog, Endi.
